Context

Co-working in Open Space

A type of office characterized by a pleasant common area conducive to communication.

While recognizing the essential need for individuals to withdraw and isolate themselves at times, for private or work-related reasons.

Research

Market and User Analysis

Research showed that open offices cause noise, lack of privacy, and distractions. Users strongly need a quiet, semi-isolated, non-claustrophobic space. Existing market solutions fall short, indicating the need for a flexible and comfortable workstation for both individual and group work.

CONCEPT

Hejm - Nordic House

Born from the iconic shape of Nordic houses with sloping roofs.

Hjem is a temporary structure specifically designed to assist users in isolating themselves within the work environment when necessary.

Its primary focus is on enhancing psychophysical well-being by ensuring the respect of personal space while also facilitating collaboration among multiple individuals.

DIMENSION

Hejm's Dimension

Hjem measures approximately 2.7 m (width) × 2.6 m (height) × 1.1 m (depth). The height allows users to stand and use the whiteboard comfortably, while the compact footprint fits well in open-space offices without creating visual clutter. Its modular size also enables two or four units to be combined into larger collaborative setups.

STRUCTURE

Hjem's Components and Structure

The structure is composed of a main frame, side panels and a slanted roof, using wood, acoustic panels and metal connectors. Inside, it includes a work desk, movable poufs, a whiteboard, integrated LED lighting and power outlets. Lockable wheels at the base and side handles support mobility and alignment. Two units can naturally interlock through their form to create different configurations.

INSCTRUCTION

How to use Hejms

Hjem is simple to use: move it into position and lock the wheels, then work seated on the pouf or standing at the desk; for collaboration, combine two or more units to form a shared space; when finished, slide the pouf back in, unlock the wheels, and reposition as needed.
